Operating within our scope. Building for impact.
LEGALITY & THE FUTURE

WE ARE NOT A LICENSED EMS PROVIDER
The Emergency Support Team (EST) is not a registered Emergency Medical Service (EMS) and does not operate as such under the EMS Regulations of 2017, issued under the Health Professions Act (Act No. 56 of 1974).
Instead, we operate as a support-focused volunteer structure that:
• Does not transport patients
• Does not replace or impersonate official EMS providers
• Works in coordination with licensed EMS, SAPS, and Fire Services
We ensure full transparency with the public and government entities in this regard. Our uniforms, branding, and operational procedures clearly reflect our supportive role.
NPC STATUS & FUTURE NPO / PBO ACCREDITATION
This structure allows us to operate legally and ethically, receive donations, and maintain governance transparency.
Our financial statements and asset inventory are available upon request.
EST is officially registered as a Non-Profit Company (NPC) under the Companies Act No. 71 of 2008
NPO Registration: Pending
Public Benefit Organisation (PBO): Pending with SARS for Section 18A approval

OUR WORK IS SUPPORTED BY THE SAQA FRAMEWORK
EST operates in line with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) framework and contributes to public health and safety by aligning our scope to relevant national unit standards.
We specifically reference: Unit Standard 119567:
“Participate in the establishment and management of a disaster risk reduction plan for a community”
WHAT WE’RE BUILDING TOWARD
Despite not being a formal EMS provider, our aspirations are bold because the need is real, and communities deserve better support systems.
Our Roadmap Includes:
- Completing NPO and PBO registration
- Expanding our Youth Division
- Offering first responder training aligned with disaster response standards
- Establishing partnerships with: Municipal and provincial disaster management teams; CPF and neighborhood watch structures and Schools and healthcare NPOs
We envision EST becoming a national model for ethical, legal, and impactful community-based emergency support.

LET’S STAY ALIGNED AND ACCOUNTABLE
We encourage:
• EMS providers, SAPS, CPF, and Fire Services to reach out for collaboration protocols
• Members of the public to engage, support, and understand our scope
• Volunteers to train responsibly and know the limits of their authority
